Rune & Gem Trading Guide
Tradable rune grades
Runes are traded at the Magic, Rare, and Legendary grades. Common and Unique grades are excluded. Runes work by combining Ritual runes and Invocation runes to create effects, so which runes you secure and at what grade directly affects your build.
Runes are traded by quantity, not by options. People often gather and trade several of the same rune, so when listing you pick the type and grade and then enter your stock amount and price.
Tradable gem grades
Gems are traded at the Royal, Grand, Horadric, and Whole Horadric grades. Grades below those (from Rough through Whole) have negligible value and are excluded. A gem type is defined by the combination of grade and color (ruby, emerald, and so on), so you must select both accurately when listing to register the gem you intend.
Runes and gems share one menu, traded by quantity
On onlytems, runes and gems are grouped under a single "Runes & Gems" item in the header menu, and you switch between them in the body. Both use a quantity-based trade unit rather than options, and the price and quantity rules are the same as for materials: the per-unit price times the count is the total, the total cannot exceed the gold cap, and the maximum stack size is 9,999.
Using the item info page
The gem section of the item info page shows every grade regardless of trade value. Checking which grade and color combination you need on the info page first makes listing and searching easier. You can also preview rune types and grades on the info page.
